Pedal & Shift is proud to support the collaboration between Brook Construction and Windtechnic Engineering, marked by the signing of an MOU to advance precast concrete wind tower manufacturing in Newfoundland and Labrador.

This agreement represents a formal step toward building the local capacity needed to support future wind energy projects across the province.

Press Release

Brook Construction (Brook), and Windtechnic Engineering (WTE), a Spanish engineering firm, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the manufacture and delivery of precast concrete tower components for wind projects in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

The MOU, outlines both companies’ intention to collaborate on bringing this specific capability to the emerging wind industry in Newfoundland and Labrador for projects involving full and hybrid concrete tower structures.

WTE has manufactured over 700 towers and designed more than 100 tower systems across four continents. The company provides engineering, certification, and construction of precast concrete towers for wind energy. Brook has over 30 years of experience in concrete and steel construction, piling, bridges, and marine infrastructure in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The collaboration combines WTE’s tower execution expertise with Brook’s construction capabilities and local knowledge. The companies aim to deliver these services to meet the needs of projects in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Using precast concrete towers enables significant local employment, ensuring that wind project development delivers local economic benefit. The approach enables simpler transportation, supports taller turbine structures, and reduces dependence on imported steel, making it well-suited for remote and coastal project locations in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Álvaro Landeira Pereira, General Manager of Windtechnic Engineering, said:

“Brook Construction understands the local construction landscape, and we’re looking forward to combining that with our wind tower execution know-how and expertise to deliver site-ready solutions for wind projects in Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Trent Burden, President and COO of Brook Construction, said:

“We’re excited about this partnership with Windtechnic Engineering and the opportunity to contribute to future wind projects in the province. Precast concrete towers not only offer a strong technical solution, but also open the door to local employment through sourcing, manufacturing, and on-site construction.”

Pedal & Shift are proud to have played a role in making this collaboration happen, supporting local capability, international connection, and the future of wind energy in Newfoundland and Labrador.
