This pivotal move is set to unlock substantial renewable energy potential, promising long-term energy security and significant economic growth for the province. On July 29, 2025, the Province of Nova Scotia and the Government of Canada jointly designated the French Bank, Middle Bank, Sable Island Bank, and Sydney Bight as the first offshore wind energy development zones. This move is vital for creating a strong offshore wind industry, with a goal to license five gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030. The next phase will focus on identifying specific parcels within these designated areas for a call for bids later this year. This indicates a clear path forward for companies interested in investing in Nova Scotia's growing clean energy sector. # What does this mean for Pedal & Shift? An emerging offshore wind sector in Nova Scotia is of significant importance to the entire Atlantic Canadian region.
